Al Braun, then 27, was in search of a new sport when street luge caught his eye. Al and Doug Anderson would be introduced to the extreme high speed sport of street luge the same day by Ed Bryant on a hill south of Atlanta. Braun at the time was a fireman and motorcycle drag racer, riding with the #2 plate on his super stock Harley Davidson. Al was a natural on the luge. Al was there for day one of Bodrodz Land Luge Workz and was one of the original four team members. He would be an avid rider/racer and spokesman for Team Bodrodz thru 2003. Braun would take possession of a Bryant sled and would terrorize the North Georgia mountains and surrounding areas.

Braun would race across the country under the Bodrodz banner. Al would always make impressive showings wherever he ran. At his first race at Cheaha Mountain AL, Braun would win the race taking home the gold in the NSLA amateur division. Al would race at Sams Gap TN, Campo CA, Bainbridge OH, and many more. At the Hangin' Rock and Roll race put on by Mike Shannon's NSLA in Madison IN, Al crashed big into the rocks after being bumped by an out of control rider while trying to run down teammate Anderson who would win the race. In 1999, Braun would also obtain his Extreme Downhill International (EDI) pro ranking and Al was off to the races. Braun, while competing at the Bainbrigde OH race in 2000, would break his tailbone. Al was our standup comedian the rest of that weekend.

Braun wowed the crowd by his high flying act at the 2000 Red Bull Streets of San Francisco Big Air contest. Al was always a crowd pleaser, and never met a stranger. Braun just missed qualifying for the 2001 Gravity Games. Al would pick up Penguin Mints and Jones Soda as his race sponsors for his pro career. Braun would ride for Team Bodrodz thru 2003 when the Bodrodz street luge race team dismantled. Braun would later move to Hawaii to enjoy the sun and surf.
